Tu ne sauras jamais ce que les doigts pensent. ”

” You will never know what think the fingers.”

Extrait du poème Le Fou d’Elsa de Louis Aragon

IDEA : A  Poster Clock : each hour, a part of the fingerprint drawn in thermochromic ink appears on the poster.

Early in the morning, the page is quite white. At midnight you can see the entire drawing.

Like an intuitive clock, the poster says what time is it. It is separated into 24 areas as the 24 hours in one day.

Fingerprint Drawing

Thermochromic Ink tested with Lilypad

First we separated the poster into 8 areas representing 8 hours :

Poster separated in 24 areas for 24 hours. It appears entirely in one day.

Making of the two screens : negative & positive of the fingerprint drawing

Searching for the same color : a thermochromic purple and a regular identical purple

Preparation for printing

Construction method with the two different fingerprint screens and the carbon painting areas & the electronic circuit screen

Testing with conductive copper tape and conductive ink

Testing with carbon fabric for conductive areas

Testing with carbon painting for conductive areas

Testing with thermochromic ink : carbon and acrylic paints underneath
